- The District of Columbia engaged SAG to research and develop a strategic plan to foster hotel development within the District. The strategic planning initiative addresses geographic areas for hotel growth by hotel product type, as well as the policies and funding resources the District can make available to make projects happen.
- SAG recently completed a study for a new 500-room convention hotel in downtown Charlotte to compliment the 700-room Charlotte Westin. SAG worked with the City of Charlotte in the 1990s to structure a public-private partnership that enabled the development of the Charlotte Westin to support the Charlotte Convention Center.
- The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority has engaged SAG to manage the development of the 500 room headquarters hotel attached to the Greater Columbus (OH) Convention Center. The hotel will be financed with publicly supported tax-exempt debt. SAG immediately launched procurement processes for the underwriter, local and national design team, construction manager, and hotel brand and manager.
- San Diego County recently selected SAG to serve a 5-year engagement as an on-call real estate consultant.
- SAG recently completed the long-range strategic plan for the vast area surrounding the Orlando/ Orange County Convention Center and the Universal Boulevard District. The client group was an association of Orange County and several large hotel owners and developers. The strategic plan addressed $2 billion in physical development objectives, including several thousand hotel rooms, retail and entertainment, vehicular and pedestrian circulation and parking, as well as establishing a self-taxing Community Development District to providing funding for the infrastructure initiatives.
- SAG recently added Mr. Martin McFarland to its team. Mr. McFarland brings more than 20 years of real estate experience specializing in real estate development, finance, project management, and corporate and institutional advisory services. Prior to joining SAG, Mr. McFarland held regional and national leadership positions with Opus South, Alvarez & Marsal, Trammell Crow Company, and Jones Lang LaSalle. Welcome to the team, Marty.
- SAG recently completed an expansion feasibility study for the Seaside Convention Center in Seaside, OR. Market research, including the use of an online meeting planner survey tool, indicated that additional demand exists for the already highly utilized center that it cannot accommodate at its current size.
- It was a gratifying moment to see SAG's Nationals Park, home of Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals, experience its successful grand opening based on the plan SAG created. SAG was part of the team to relocate the Montreal Expos to Washington DC and developed the funding and finance plan to get the ballpark developed in 2003. SAG has continued to work on mixed-use development projects surrounding the new stadium.
